Lenexa, KS, November 20, 2017 - W. Clay Jackson, MD, DipTh was elected President of the Board of the Academy of Integrative Pain Management (AIPM). He is also Editor-in-Chief of The Pain Practitioner, the official magazine of AIPM, and has been a member of AIPM’s Board of Directors since 2014.

Jackson is Clinical Assistant Professor of Family Medicine and Psychiatry at the University of Tennessee College of Medicine in Memphis, Tennessee, where he maintains a private practice in family and palliative medicine. He is also the Associate Fellowship Director of Palliative Medicine at the University of Tennessee College of Medicine. Jackson is board certified in family practice, pain medicine, and hospice and palliative medicine, and is a frequent presenter at national conferences on the treatment of chronic pain. His work has been published in a number of leading academic journals and he is a recipient of numerous teaching honors.

As a leader within the largest professional association in the country dedicated to integrative care for patients with pain, Jackson said he seeks to continue advancing AIPM’s mission: “AIPM provides much more than a community space for clinicians -- in fact, we offer an innovative platform for improving research, clinical care, and education for driving positive outcomes in our patients. In a time of confusion and dismay regarding what AIPM’s Executive Director Bob Twillman has called our country's ‘dual health crisis’ of over-prescription of opioids and under-treatment of chronic pain, we know that there is a way forward through compassionate, team-based care that reduces illness and promotes wellness for all patients.”

“I have the utmost confidence and respect for Clay's dedication to AIPM. He understands integrative pain care, is a dedicated palliative care clinician, and a great thinker," said Joanna Katzman, MD, MSPH who had been President of AIPM since 2015.
